Design and Size
iPhone 11
This is generally where you'll be able to tell the major difference between the various models. The iPhone 11 comes in at a much more compact size (6.1 inches) than the Pro Max and it features a mix of aluminum and glass for its body. Along with this, it comes in a variety of vibrant colors including black, yellow, white, red, purple, and green. The iPhone 11 is designed with an IP68 rating which means that it is both dust and water-resistant.
iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max
Both of these models feature a much more sophisticated aesthetic. Not only are they made up of much more premium materials featuring a stainless steel frame, but the glass also features a matte aesthetic and texture to it. Apple is much more conservative with these models in the color department opting for less vibrant colors like Silver, Gold, Space Gray and the brand new Midnight Green. These models are designed with an IP68 rating, as well. The iPhone 11 Pro comes in at the most compact size at 5.8 inches. Whereas, the iPhone 11 Pro Max comes in at a whopping 6.5 inches.
Display
Like its previous iteration, the iPhone 11 features a much lesser quality screen than it's much more expensive counterparts. The iPhone 11 features an LCD panel which doesn't get nearly as bright as the more expensive models. The LCD display featured in the iPhone 11 is capable of reaching 652 nits. While this is certainly better than last year's XR model, it doesn't come close to the latest and greatest in the iPhone series.
The iPhone 11 Pro and the iPhone 11 Pro Max feature a high-quality OLED screen that is capable of hitting 752 nits and 761 nits respectively. Therefore, they are going to be much more visible when viewed outdoors. Apple is calling this display a Super Retina XDR display.
Audio
Apple has never really focused as much on the audio side of things as they have in the latest models. The new iteration of the iPhone seems to have a much more inherent focus on entertainment viewing including the audio portion with the addition of the new spatial audio feature and the inclusion of Dolby Atmos support. Each of which makes viewing media that support it much more immersive than ever before.
Camera
This is really where the newest iPhone models shine. You can tell Apple really put a lot of its Research and Development into the camera portion of their new releases because the advancements are very significant.
The iPhone 11 specifically only features 2 rear cameras including a wide-angle lens and an ultra-wide-angle lens. These lenses are capable of offering a 2x optical zoom.
Whereas, the camera setup on the iPhone 11 Pro and the iPhone 11 Pro max feature the same 2 cameras found in the iPhone 11, but they add an additional 3rd camera lens which is a telephoto lens. The new telephoto lens is said to allow 40% more light in than the previous telephoto lens that was featured in last years model. Because of this, the newer iPhone is capable of taking photos in the dark and at night that rival the most fierce competition of Google's Pixel's Night Sight feature.
Speed and Performance
This is another major advancement of the latest iteration of the iPhone. Apple's brand new A13 Bionic processor is truly special. Apple has really been outpacing its competition on this side of things and the A13 pretty much laps what you will find on the latest and greatest Android powered by Qualcomm. Not only is the latest iteration of Apple's chip much better in terms of raw performance clocking in at a 20% improvement rate, but it is also said to be 40% more efficient than it's predecessor.
Ok, I'm Sold, How Much Is It Going To Cost Me?
Don't worry, Apple is still charging ridiculous prices for their iPhones which means you can look forward to emptying out your bank account for the latest and greatest models. With Apple continuing offering an entry model, you can enter the iPhone 11 family at a fair price of $699. However, if you want the latest and greatest that Apple has to offer, you will need to spend a minimum of $999 for the relatively compact iPhone 11 Pro. And, if you want the iPhone 11 Pro Max, expect to fork out a minimum of $1099. Hey, we did say it wasn't going to be cheap! At least with the latest models, you are getting top of the line specs, some great added features, and one of the best (if not the best) cameras available on the marketplace.
